Class Wear Uniform Swap at RDC Studio
Thursday, August 24 from 4-8pm

CLASS APPEARANCE
Dance is a highly athletic activity in which performers are often assessed on their appearance. I believe all dancers benefit from an environment encouraging positive body image. In the studio, this takes the form of  hygiene, cleanliness, and appropriate class uniforms.

BENIFITS OF A UNIFORM

1. It helps young dancers understand they are going to a structured class (compared to unstructured playtime).

2. Dance uniforms, specific to each class and level, give the teacher the opportunity to see the dancer's body and make appropriate corrections, as well as choreograph dances more effectively.

3. Like various forms of martial arts, different colors represent progress throught the various levels, allowing dancer's to set goals they can achieve.

4. Young dancers can become distracted by their own dancewear, shifting their focus and attention away from the teacher. Removing the distraction of different dancewear also encourages dancers to work together as a team.

HAIR
As students move through the space, hair can become a big distraction. Having to redo hair in the middle of class or having the hair fall onto the face when performing a skill can impede progression and/or cause injury.

For all classes, hair should be worn up, out of the face, and secured.  *Ballet students'  hair should be worn up in a tight bun with plenty of bobby pins to secure fly-aways.

BOYS
Boys 10yrs and older may be required to wear a dance belt. Check with your instructor for more details.

WARM UPS
Students are allowed to wear warm ups at the beginning of class, and remove them as their muscles warm.

WHERE DO I PURCHASE DANCEWEAR?
We utilize a service called Nimbly to fulfill your dancewear needs. All classes have a required uniform available through our Online Boutique  at a very affordable price.

We strongly encourage you to use our online boutique  for the following reasons:

1. Our online boutique  is set up with all the correct colors, shoes, leotards and tights that are required for your class. Many of our shoes are the color and style we use in our recitals, so it is better to have the correct items at the beginning in order to avoid having to purchase shoes again.

2. The prices are excellent and the quality of their dancewear is superb.

3. Best of all, purchasing your classwear through Nimbly is more convenient than driving all over the county to find dancewear.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO BUY FOR MY DANCER?

Costumes: On Costume Sizing Day or during the first few weeks of class, you'll be given a worksheet explaining what and how to order all of your costume supplies conveniently online or via a toll free number.

IF I ORDER ONLINE FROM NIMBLY AND SOMETHING DOESN'T FIT RIGHT, WHAT DO I DO?
Bring it to your studio and we'll arrange an exchange or refund.
